3 Months Old!

Kaylin is 3 months old today! I know I probably said this last month too, but I really can't believe how quickly she is growing and changing! She's outgrown her newborn clothes and I cried as I packed them away yesterday. She's becoming more active - flailing her arms and legs all around and reaching for objects. She's becoming vocal - "agoo" is her favorite thing to say. Billy and I are in a competition for which name she says first - mama or dada. ;) She focuses on us and will watch when we walk away from her. She also likes to watch the morning news from her cradle while I'm getting ready for work - although I assume she just likes the colors. (I pray she doesn't inherit her Daddy's ability to watch TV hours on end!) I'm still breastfeeding her, and I'm really proud that I've stuck with it when it would have been so much easier to give her formula when I started back to work. (pumping 5 times a day, not getting a lunch hour because that time is split up for pumping breaks, lots of bottles to wash and pump parts to clean, toting the pump to and from work, etc.) I feel good that I'm giving her the healthiest thing possible. I so enjoy the weekends when I just nurse her and don't have to worry about bottles or pumping!

We took our 3 month picture in the chair with the bear today. Here are months 1-3 to compare:

Over the weekend we went to visit Grandma and the Sells. Kaylin was wide awake for most of the visit and the kids enjoyed passing her around - even little Jack wanted to hold the baby. It was really sweet. It was great to see everyone and the fried chicken was fantastic as usual!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Today is Billy's 28th birthday. We celebrated by going out to an early dinner at Provino's. Yum! This was our first time taking Kaylin out to a restaurant together... awh! (I've taken her out to eat once - at a Mexican place with my friend Meaghan, but I digress.) We had a nice time and hope Daddy's birthday wish comes true!

Kaylin had her first photo shoot at 5 weeks old courtesy of Lisa Mason Drake of Sweet Pea Photography. (http://www.sweetpeaphotographs.com/) Lisa is such a sweet person and a wonderful photographer. Here are some of our favorites:

Weekend Update

This is why it's so hard for me to go to work on Fridays:

We took Kaylin to the dog park for the first time on Saturday. She slept through the whole thing in her Baby Bjorn! Since it was a sunny day and she has her Mommy's skin tone, we made sure to put sunscreen and a hat on her. It was a great time except for the part when Copa got attacked by a very dominant bulldog. It was really pretty scary - everyone was screaming and all the dogs were chasing the bulldog, trying to break up the fight. A black lab even grabbed the bulldog's collar and jerked him off of Copa. Copa has a large scratch where he bit her, but is fine other than that. She cooled off in the creek after the whole ordeal.

On Sunday, we just hung out around the house watching TV and cleaning up. We wish the weekend would last longer!!

Two Month Check-Up

Kaylin had her two month check-up on Thursday. Daddy took her because he had the day off. I felt guilty that I wasn't there, but knew she would be just fine. The appointment went great - Kaylin weighs 9 lbs, 6 oz now! She's only in the ninth percentile for weight, but the doctor said not to worry because she's gaining weight as she should. She just started out small! She's 23 inches long now. She got four vaccines - one oral and three shots. :( Billy said she cried but calmed down pretty quickly.

In the past week or so, Kaylin has started trying to use her hands to grab things (toys, her paci). She's also learned how to stick out her tongue and blow raspberries. She doesn't do it often, but when she does it's so funny. She's discovering her toes, too. She stares at them like they're the most amazing things ever. She's still feeling a little under the weather from her cold. Her nose is stuffy and I have to do the saline and suction a few times a day. She hates it, and since her neck is so strong, she can turn away making the whole thing worse than it has to be. But when we're done, she can breathe easier, so that's good. Hopefully she'll be back to 100% soon.

(These pictures were taken after a diaper blow out that required a bath. I put her down to get the bath ready and she fell asleep!)

Daddy & Daughter

After my shower last night I walked into the living room and caught Billy playing making Kaylin dance -and it was hysterical! With his help, she was doing "the sprinkler," "the lawn mower," "making pizza," "running man," and this Q tip dance from the movie "Hitch." I wish I had caught it on video, because not only did Billy and I find it hilarious - but so did Kaylin! It melted my heart to see them playing together and made me excited to watch their relationship grow through these silly games.

By the way, Billy is doing a great job taking care of Kaylin on Fridays while I go to work. He also really helps me out a lot during the week. Just last night he packed my lunch and filled bottles as Kaylin and I slept on the couch. (And that was after he cooked dinner and brought me ice cream!!) I'm really lucky to have a wonderful husband who turned out to be a wonderful daddy.

He sent this picture to me while I was working on Friday (and seriously missing my baby girl!):

Kaylin's First Easter!

Happy Easter! We've had a nice, lazy Easter Sunday. Kaylin and I let Daddy sleep in, then talked him in to making us chocolate chip pancakes - yum! I wanted to take Kaylin and Copa to the dog park to play and have a picnic, but it was a little too windy. Hopefully we can do that soon.

Kaylin's great aunt sent this adorable outfit the other day - just in time for Easter! (Thanks Aunt Marti!) Aren't the little bunny feet precious? Too bad you can't see the tail in the back. :)

Kaylin is sick :(

My sweet baby has her first cold. Her temp was 100.7 this morning, so we went to see the doctor. They said we can give her baby Tylenol for the fever, but there's not much we can do for her congestion. (saline & suction, cool mist humidifier, sleep elevated) Poor thing hasn't eaten too much today and is sleeping a lot. I hope she feels better soon.

Oh - they weighed her and she's up to 9 lbs, 3.5 oz!!

Kaylin's first road trip

We went to Montgomery over the weekend for Huntingdon's alumni reunion. Kaylin was excellent on the 3 hour drive! Unfortunately, Billy's soccer game was cancelled - we were really looking forward to that. Kaylin did get to go to El Rey, though. And she got to meet our friends Kelly, Mike, Nick, and Andy! We had a great time!

Hmmm... what's in that red cup, Dad? ;)
