I have been slacking in the blogging department! I never got around to doing last weekend's post... oops. We've been busy, though! Let me see if I can remember everything...

Billy was out of town last weekend. (boo) On Saturday we went over to see Grandma and Great-Grandma at Caroline's. We even took Copa so she could play with their dog, Petey. My girls were exhausted after the visit and slept all the way home.

On Sunday we met them again for breakfast at our favorite spot. Kaylin was such a good girl and played with her toys while I ate chocolate chip pancakes. (They were good, but not as good as the ones Billy makes!)

After that, we went down to Babies 'R Us to pick up a couple of things. It's so hard getting out of there on budget! I always find things that I didn't know existed but now that I do I don't know how I can live my life without them.

On Monday, Kaylin was sneezing, coughing, and had a runny nose. Then I noticed she felt warm during a visit with Meaghan and her boys. When I got home I took her temp and, yep, she had a fever. I called the Dr. and they wanted to see her Tuesday morning to check that and get another urine sample to make sure her UTI had cleared up. I really, really didn't want them to do another catheter, but that was the only way to know for sure. Ugh. The procedure didn't take very long and she recovered from it pretty quickly. They said she had a viral infection and to give her Tylenol for the fever. Poor baby. She got her best sleep reclining in the swing.

She's all better now, though. OH! She weighs 14.2 pounds!!

Billy got home Thursday night a little after midnight. He kept Kaylin on Friday while I went to work. I like it when he keeps her because when I'm home I tend to jump in and do most things myself. Without me hovering, they can spend some quality time together which is especially important since Billy is travelling so much.

We had movie night on Friday - complete with Reese's Pieces and Milk Duds. :) On Saturday, we ran errands and just enjoyed being together as a family.

Sunday was lazy, but great. Billy got up with Kaylin at 7:00 and let me get another hour of sleep alone. Ahhh! After Billy cooked breakfast, we all watched golf. I was surprised that I was so into it, but I was.

Kaylin lost interest. ;)

Kaylin's doing a great job sitting up. Every once and a while she'll topple over and I catch her before her head hits the carpet. A few times, though, I've been too far away to catch her and I feel so bad when she cries!
She LOVES playing peek-a-boo! I didn't think she was old enough to do it on her own, but I guess not! I got a video of her doing it the other day. She's adorable; I sound like I've sucked on a helium tank.

This isn't baby related, but look what I caught slithering out of our yard the other day! Yikes!

Time to fill bottles, pack my lunch and shower before Kaylin wakes up to eat. Have a good week!

Diaper envy.

The other day, my free sample of the new Huggies Pure and Natural diaper arrived. I thought, "Yay! Three free diapers!" Who doesn't love free stuff? Well, after using them and coming to the conclusion that they're the best diapers ever created, I wanted to write a letter to the CEO of Huggies and ask him how he could do this to me. He should be ashamed of himself! How could he get me addicted and then leave me high and dry? Now I'm suffering withdrawal because who can afford these diapers?! Even with the $3 off coupon they sent me, I still can't rationalize spending $12 for 30 diapers when I can go to BJs and get 264 regular Huggies for $36. Or I could splurge and get 228 Pampers for $36. Of course, neither are made with organic cotton. Who thought I would care about an organic cotton diaper? Now that I've experienced it, all other diapers pale in comparison. It was soooooo soft! Why - WHY - did you send me that damn free sample?!!

This is the description from the Babies R Us website:

"Huggies Pure and Natural Diapers made of organic materials. Discover the pure bliss of a diaper that includes gentle, natural materials. Organic cotton and a touch of aloe & E, fragrance free - and happily hypoallergenic! Designed with unbeatable leakage protection so your child will stay dry. You will feel good about using Huggies Pure and Natural Diapers."Oh, I did discover the bliss, thank you very much. Now, like a good addict, I'm trying to figure out if I really need to eat dinner tonight so my little angel can crap into organic cotton.

Kaylin's first 4th of July!

We had a great 4th of July weekend! Billy surprised us and came home early on Wednesday - he was already home when we got home from work! Sweet!

On Friday, we took Copa to the dog park because she hasn't been in forever. She loves cooling off in the creek. Kaylin had a great time in her Bjorn watching the dogs play!

We were going to try to go see our local firework show, but it didn't start until 9:30 and Kaylin goes to sleep at 9:00. We also figured it would be too loud and scare her. Maybe next year!

On Saturday, we went over to our friend's pub where they were celebrating the 4th and his 30th birthday. It was only open to friends and family, so that was nice. They had a beach volleyball court set up as well as a kiddie pool for the little ones. They also grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs... yum!

When we got home, we played in the grass in our yard. Sounds simple, but it was probably my favorite part of our weekend.

(We didn't know Daddy was taking our picture!)

It was so nice spending time together, but before we knew it, the weekend was over and it was time for Billy to go back to Ohio.

Hope you had a nice 4th too!

5 Months Old!

Kaylin turned 5 months old yesterday! It is amazing to me how quickly she is growing and changing. Some days it seems like she's changing right in front of my eyes. She had her 4 month check-up this week and the doctor said she is doing great. She weighs 13 lbs, 8 oz now as is 25 1/2 inches long! It's hard to believe she started out at 6 lbs, 7 oz and 20 inches long! She had 4 shots and I wanted to cry right along with her. It's so hard to see her in pain, but I know it's something that has to be done.

This has been a big month for Kaylin - she started rolling over (although so far she can only get from her tummy to her back), sitting up for short periods and eating baby food. We started cereal a few weeks ago and she loves it! We started bananas this week and she's not a big fan so far. We tried peas this morning and to my shock - she liked them. Yay! She's started taking naps in her crib during the day. Her little personality is really starting to develop. She's so much fun these days! She's such a little chatterbox and loves to play when she's awake. She's so alert and everyone from the doctor to other parents at school calls her "Bright Eyes." She loves Copa and Zoe and they don't mind too much when she grabs their ears and tugs as hard as she can. We got her a jumper/exersaucer yesterday. (yay for craigslist!) She loves it!

She also loves this toy cousin Amber got her for Christmas. It's a 6 months and up toy and when we got it, it felt like she wouldn't be able to play with it for a loooong time. I got it out the other day and she thought it was great.

Here are her monthly pictures. She's so active now that it's harder to get a good one. At one point she had the bear in a headlock!

I can't resist taking pictures of her when she's sleeping. She looks so peaceful.

Happy 5 months, love bug. You fill our days with love and laughter and we couldn't be happier to be your parents.
