2 months old!

Sweet baby Kaylin turned 2 months old today! I can't believe how fast she is growing! She's eating like a champ and can hold her head up really well. She smiles and coos at us all the time. :) She's also drooling a lot which makes us think she might cut a tooth early. (??) She's sleeping much better - we usually get a 4 hour stretch each night. (from 11pm-3am)

Off to bed now! Enjoy the pictures!

G-ma & Great G-ma visit

We had a great visit with Grandma and Great Grandma over the weekend! They weren't able to stay very long, but we were so glad to have some time with them. This was the first time Great Grandma met Kaylin, so that was special. We didn't do too much while they were here, but we did make it to our favorite breakfast spot. Mommy had french toast and Daddy went for pecan pancakes....yum! Kaylin enjoyed her usual! ;)

Come back soon!

Weekend Update

Our first week of work/daycare is over and we survived!! Kaylin is doing great in her infant class. She has two main "teachers" - Ms. Sue and Ms. Michelle. Ms. Sue is a good ol' southern grandma and used to have infant care in her home. She's really great with the babies and I'm picking up some tricks from her. Ms. Michelle is really sweet and doesn't get annoyed when I ask her a million questions about Kaylin's day. Kaylin also has another teacher that's with her for a little while in the mornings - Ms. Morea. She's Spanish and always greets Kaylin with a, "Buenos dios, bebe!" It's cute. All of the ladies are very caring seem to love what they do. I'm really comfortable leaving Kaylin in their care. Of course they can't take care of her as good as Mommy can, but I guess they'll do. ;)

On Friday, Kaylin stayed home with Daddy since he has Fridays off. I'll be honest - I was nervous because Billy hasn't had her all alone for very long. I think the longest he's had her alone was 3 hours. Including my commute, I was away for 11 hours on Friday! Everything was fine, though - Kaylin was in one piece when I got back. (So was Billy! Ha!) I'm really glad they get to have that time together. Later that night, Kaylin and I took a bath together. She loved the water! She was so calm and relaxed. Billy took a couple of pictures, and I cropped myself out of one so you could see Kaylin.

We ran some errands on Saturday and Kaylin was such a good girl. We went to Lowe's to get some flowers then out to lunch. When we got home, Kaylin and I sat outside and watched Daddy work. :) Here she is in her car seat:

Here we are by a tree in our yard. She had been sleeping, so I guess that explains her odd pose. She looks like she's about to do a Karate Kid kick. :)

We're looking forward to seeing Grandma and Great-Grandma next weekend and our trip to Montgomery the following weekend for Huntingdon reunion weekend!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Our first day of work/daycare went great! I teared up as I left the room, but got it together pretty quickly. I was lucky, though - I could see Kaylin from my classroom!! I spent most of the day watching her and neglecting my toddlers. Just kidding... sort of. ;) Kaylin was very popular with all the teachers - they all thought she was adorable and took turns holding her.
Here are a couple of pictures from today. I tried to get a good one of her "Kiss me, I'm Irish" onesie, but she was tired and hungry. Daddy fed her a little tonight so I could take a hot bath. Ahhhh!! :)

6 weeks old!

I can't believe Kaylin is already 6 weeks old! It's amazing how much she's grown and changed in just six weeks. It's also amazing how much Billy and I have learned in that time! (how to give a bath, that she likes to be swaddled, how to quicky change a diaper, what her different cries mean, etc.)

Unfortunately, my maternity leave is over and I'll be back to work tomorrow. I'm having a really hard time thinking about being away from my sweet baby girl for that long, but I'm trying to look on the bright side - at least we'll be in the same building and I can nurse during lunch and sneak in for hugs and kisses every once in a while. And, of course, if there's an emergency I'll be right there. Since Billy is off on Fridays, Kaylin will be staying home with him on those days. I'm sure he's looking forward to spending some time with his daughter without Mommy hogging her! ;)

Wish us luck on our first day!

Sleepy baby!

Kaylin slept through the night last night!!! She fell asleep around 10:30 pm and woke up at 5:00 am!! Wow! I always look at the clock when she wakes up in the middle of the night just to see and I was shocked when I looked over and the clock said 5:00! (You know you're a parent when you're excited about getting to sleep in until 5am!)

(These pictures aren't from last night, but I thought you'd like to see them anyway.)

We did have a very busy day yesterday, so maybe she was worn out. We went down to Newnan and had pictures taken with Lisa Mason Drake. She said the pictures should be ready on Monday or Tuesday. I can't wait to see them! Kaylin was a difficult subject for a while - all she wanted to do was EAT EAT EAT! After her tummy was full, she didn't mind too much. Lisa's having a "cutest baby" contest that will benefit the March of Dimes. Once Kaylin's pictures are ready, Billy and I will pick our favorite. Then it'll be posted on Lisa's website with all the other entries. Each vote costs $1, but all proceeds go to the March of Dimes. The top 12 babies get a month in the calendar. (All the others will be in a collage in the back.) Here's more info about it: http://sweetpeaphotographs.blogspot.com/

We also got to hang out with Aunt Molly yesterday! :) We wish she lived closer so we could see her more often!

Playtime!

We put Kaylin on her little monkey playmat the other day and she had a great time. She was staring at the little animals - it's so neat that she can see that far away and focus on objects now.

I also took another video of her in her swing. I realize it defeats the purpose of putting her in the swing so I can start dinner when all I do is stand there and watch her swinging, but I can't help it!! She's too cute! I caught her smiling at Piglet the other day and was hoping to catch it again. (Oh, and I didn't know I couldn't rotate videos after I've shot them, so you'll just have to tilt your head to the right - ha ha!)

And this is why Grandpa Scheer calls her "Bright Eyes." :)

Dunstan Baby Language

I just read about something called Dunstan Baby Language - supposedly it decodes your baby's cries.

Neh = "I'm hungry"
Owh = "I'm sleepy"
Eh = "I need to burp"
Eairh = "I'm gassy"
Heh = "I'm uncomfortable"

I thought it was a crock, but then I heard Kaylin make the "neh" sound. I didn't think she could be hungry because she just ate like 10 minutes ago, but thought I'd try it anyway. She immediately latched on and ate for another 10 minutes. Hmm... I wonder if this lady is on to something. Her website is http://www.dunstanbaby.com/, but this video sums it up:

We'll see if it works!

One month check-up

Kaylin had her one month check-up on Wednesday and she is doing great! She weighs 7lbs, 4 oz and is 21 inches long now. She had to get a shot and I think it hurt Mommy more than it hurt her! She let out a giant scream, but was fine after a minute or so. She got her first Barbie band-aid. In true new mommy form, I saved it for a day before decided that, no, it did not need to go in her baby book. ;) Anyway, they were impressed with how alert she is - she was just laying on the table looking all around. The nurse even asked, "Is she always this good?" Well, no, not always, but she rarely cries or fusses. She's pretty laid back - I guess she got that from her daddy!

We have some friends that took a picture of their son each month in the same chair, with the same stuffed animal. At the end of his first year, they put all 12 pictures into a collage frame so you could see his growth. We thought it was really neat and want to do that with Kaylin. Here's her first month picture:

I put her in her swing for the first time recently and, of course, had to take video of it. I sound like an idiot, (high pitched voice, anyone?) but I guess all new parents sound like that. ;) She seemed to like it, though. (Thanks, Grandpa!)

One month old!

Kaylin is one month old today! I can't believe how quickly time is flying. It feels like she was born just yesterday! She has a doctor's appointment on Wednesday, so I'll post her weight gain then. Here are a couple of pictures from today:

I finally got a picture of the dimple!! Yay!

I'm not sure what this face is, but I thought it was funny! (The delay on my camera totally sucks!)
